Abstract

The frequent use of mobile devices had become commonplace among students, a situation that sparked interest in understanding its potential relationship with emotional self-regulation and its implications in the educational setting. The study aimed to determine the relationship between mobile device use and emotional self-regulation among students, as well as to identify the characteristics of both variables in the study population. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and a correlational scope. The population consisted of students from whom a sample of participants was selected. To collect data, instruments were administered whose validity and reliability had been previously established. The results confirmed the main finding that mobile device use influences emotional self-regulation. Furthermore, the study identified a relationship between the variables, with varying levels of significance and a correlation coefficient, which helped establish the importance of considering the use of mobile devices and emotional self-regulation within the educational context. The study provided relevant information for understanding this issue and for developing strategies aimed at students’ social-emotional well-being.
