Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education: Ethical Use, Personalized Learning, and Challenges for Teachers and Students

This article analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on education, focusing on three key areas: ethical use, personalized learning, and challenges for teachers and students. An integrative review was conducted of 34 academic publications and policy documents released between 2011 and 2024. The results indicate that intelligent tutoring systems can improve performance when they provide timely feedback and align with clear pedagogical objectives; however, personalization is neither automatic nor neutral. Generative AI expands access to explanations, examples, and language support, but it also introduces plausible errors, biases, privacy risks, cognitive dependency, and new forms of academic dishonesty. For teachers, the technology can support lesson planning and formative assessment, though it requires AI literacy, task redesign, human oversight, and institutional accountability criteria. For students, its value depends on using it as a scaffold for thinking rather than as a substitute for intellectual effort. The study concludes that responsible educational integration requires explicit pedagogical purpose, data minimization, transparency, equity, continuous assessment, and the preservation of human agency.
