The Quadruple Helix and Regional Quality Management: How Interaction Among Academia, Business, Government, and Society Improves Living Standards in the Buena Fe Canton

Regional development in the Buena Fe canton was shaped by the need to strengthen quality management and improve the population’s living conditions through greater coordination among local stakeholders. The problem centered on the limited interaction between the academic sector, businesses, the government, and civil society—a situation that hindered the development of comprehensive solutions for local development. The objective was to analyze how the Quadruple Helix model contributed to regional quality management and the improvement of living standards in the Buena Fe canton. The research adopted a quantitative approach, with a descriptive and analytical scope, through the application of data collection techniques targeting the main local stakeholders. The results showed that cooperation among universities, businesses, the government, and civil society facilitated the identification of local needs, the generation of innovation proposals, the strengthening of public and private services, and the promotion of opportunities for economic and social development. Additionally, limitations were identified regarding inter-institutional communication, citizen participation, and the coordination of actions. It was concluded that the Quadruple Helix served as a relevant mechanism for strengthening regional quality management, because it promoted shared responsibility, innovation, and regional cooperation, which had a positive impact on the well-being and standard of living of the residents of the Buena Fe canton.Downloads
